Site Review - The R. G. Strong Family

The R. G. Strong Family Genealogy site is a passion of 20 years of genealogy research. The first site began with 5,000 individuals and has grown through the years to over 20,000. The site focuses on paternal ancestors, William Adelbert STRONG and Mary Polly WENRICH, who were born in Mifflin Co., PA in 1825-1829 and maternal ancestors, Walter HALLADAY b. 1640 who settled in Simsbury , CT. Other surnames of interest are: STRONG/STRANG, HALLADAY (all forms of the spelling), SKELTON, PRATT, CONINE, KEMPLE, & CULP.

The site was upgraded to a TNG database and placed on line on April 30, 2006 providing a fast and powerful means to share the research with the genealogy community. Numerous contributors provide updates to continually expand the family history. There is even a page providing credit to numerous contributions.  

The site contains a stirring article written in 1975, by Stephen M. Halliday, on the beginnings of the family name in Scotland in the 12th century through the migration to the New World . Relationships to famous Scottish patriot Sir William Wallace are outlined as well as Wallace’s victories over the English and his ultimate hanging in the tower of London .  

Additionally, several historical documents and photos of cemeteries and headstones can be found on the site. With more being added.
